Privacy Policy

Daboo is a game about spending less time on your phone. To play it, we need one number from you each day. This policy explains exactly what that number is, what else we store, and who can see it. Our approach is simple: we collect as little as possible, we don’t sell your data, and we never run ads.

The short version

• We record one rounded number per day — roughly how long you spent on your phone.
• That number is visible to the friends you have added, and to no one else.
• We never see, store, or transmit which apps you use or what you do in them.
• No data sales, no ads, no third-party analytics.

How your screen time is measured

Daboo measures your daily screen time automatically, on your device, using Apple’s Screen Time (Family Controls) framework. You grant that permission once — during setup, or later from your profile.

Precisely what that means:

• Apple’s system tells the app when your cumulative daily usage crosses certain thresholds. We keep the highest threshold you crossed that day. We never receive a per-app breakdown, and Apple does not provide one to apps like ours.
• At the end of each day, that single rounded total — and only that — is sent to our server and attached to your account.
• If you don’t grant Screen Time access, or turn it off later, Daboo records nothing. There is no manual entry: without the permission the app has no number, and you simply won’t appear on the leaderboard.

You can revoke Screen Time access at any time in iOS Settings → Screen Time, or turn tracking off inside Daboo from your profile. Either one stops all future recording immediately.

About profile photos

If you upload a profile photo, it is stored at a public web address derived from your account identifier. That means the image is not secret: anyone who has or guesses the address can view it without signing in to Daboo. Please don’t upload a photo you would be uncomfortable having publicly reachable. You can delete your photo at any time, and deleting your account deletes it too.

About app-usage events

We record a small set of events to our own servers so we can see where people get stuck: opening the app, completing each setup step, switching tabs, enabling or skipping screen-time tracking, tapping to add a friend, and sharing an invite. These are tied to your account. They contain no screen-time data and no information about other apps on your device.

We do not use Google Analytics, Firebase, Meta, or any other third-party analytics or advertising SDK.

Who your data is shared with

• Your friends see your username, display name, photo, and your daily rounded total. That is the point of the app.
• Nobody else. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or make it visible to other users who are not your friends.
• Our infrastructure providers store it on our behalf — our database and file-storage host. They process it only to run the service.

Notifications

Daboo can send you daily reminders. They are generated on your device and contain no personal data. You can turn each one off individually in your profile, or all of them in iOS Settings.

Deleting your account

Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your profile, your friend connections, your photo, and every day you have recorded. It cannot be undone, and we do not keep a backup copy of a deleted account.

Children’s Privacy

Daboo is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or who can see it, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above and say so in the app before the change takes effect.
